The Loaves and Fishes ministry has been devoted to assisting those in need since 1993, serving residents in the towns of Andover, Bradford, Danbury, Grantham, Newbury, New London, Salisbury, Springfield, Sunapee, Sutton, Warner and Wilmot.
Loaves and Fishes responds to requests in times of crisis in a confidential, timely, respectful and non-judgmental manner, providing financial assistance regardless of religious affiliation. It is staffed by volunteers and funded by the parishioners of Our Lady of Fatima and Immaculate Conception.
In a typical year, about 150 families are assisted. Loaves and Fishes collaborates with civic agencies and other religious organizations, such as Kearsarge Regional Ecumenical Ministries, to enhance the services to persons in need.
Types of assistance offered include:
- Utilities: home heating fuel/ electricity/ phone
- Short term food and clothing needs
- Other requests on a case-by-case basis
- Information and/or referral to area agencies or organizations for assistance.
Training is provided in how best to assist clients. Once completed, volunteers take turns answering messages left on the Help Line for a week long rotation ever six to eight weeks. Contact Marc Cousineau through the parish office, 603 526-4484 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
